Ahead of the annual RIMS RISKWORLD Conference and Exhibition — and throughout the year — we all invest considerable time, effort and resources to find solutions and ideas to improve the well-being of our organizations and the people who support us. While the environment at RIMS is typically fast paced and high energy, we invite you to set aside some time to recharge at the Wellness ZENter, a RIMS venue sponsored by Sedgwick.

Conveniently located at RIMS HQ booth 1551, you will have a chance to relax and interact with service and therapy animals and hear some of today’s most insightful health and wellness tips. This year’s lineup includes thought leaders Kathy Tazic, Karen Waites, Chris Harvey, Jay Ayala, Martin King, Jody Moses, Andrea Buhl, Max Koonce, Jo Copeland, Bryon Bass, myself and more.

Your Wellness ZENter roundup

Monday, May 1 | 10-10:30am

You’re not listening

We live in such a connected world, but are we really listening to each other? Being a better listener can elevate your interpersonal relationships, shift your mindset, increase your resilience, impact your management style, and transform your mental health — and when cascaded throughout an organization, it has the potential to change your corporate culture. Together, we’ll discuss the principles outlined in Kate Murphy’s bestselling book, You’re Not Listening, and take away actionable guidance that could impact all facets of our lives. Plus, be one of the first 75 attendees to join this session in Atlanta and take home a copy of the book!

Monday, May 1 | 10:30-11am

> Protecting your brand, your people and your communities

When products put people’s health at risk, swift action is critical. In the wake of a record-setting year for recalls, regulatory efforts and enforcement will continue to increase. Come away from this session with product safety and compliance insights, as well as recall, crisis and communications plan strategies designed to support your brand, your people and your communities.

Monday, May 1 | 11-11:30am

> Community, culture and workplace wellness

The conversation continues to evolve around community and how it can affect workplace culture, mental health and business relationships. Community-based initiatives connect people and champion diversity, equity and inclusion. They promote teambuilding, help employees feel a sense of purpose, support individual growth, and spread goodwill in the places where you live and work. Hear examples of how organizations like yours are bringing together like-minded and supportive resource groups, engaging through volunteerism, and finding success in other real-word programs that you too can take back to make an impact on your own team and community.

Monday, May 1 | 4-4:30pm

> Helping each other through crisis

Years of uncertainty and stress have transformed us; crisis has become normalized and changed the way we react to different scenarios. When addressing tough situations — whether a catastrophic injury, workplace violence, natural disaster, or a “common” workers’ compensation, disability, property or liability claim — stress can lead to unfavorable results for individuals, employers and insurers. How can we help people in crisis? In this session, we’ll explore strategies and resources to support recovery and restoration, maintain empathetic and clear communication, simplify processes, and reduce stress throughout the claims experience.

Tuesday, May 2 | 12-12:30pm

> Tangible tips for workplace health and productivity

Workplace violence, PTSD, burnout, and other mental and physical health challenges like long COVID continue to impact workplace health and productivity, yet employers are taking tangible steps toward making a difference. Let’s walk through ideas employers can consider in support of their employees and stakeholders — ways to prepare front line managers, align accommodations, maintain compliance, optimize strategies for absenteeism/presenteeism, utilize data, improve engagement, deliver training and more.

Tuesday, May 2 | 12:30-1pm

> Get to know the organizations behind the animals

Part of our Wellness ZENter purpose is giving back to charitable organizations that give so much to the community. Learn more about this year’s Atlanta-based partners: Paws For Life USA — an organization known for training service, therapy and facility animals nationwide for those facing disabilities, including veterans, first responders, children and adults; and Pet Partners of Cobb County — a community therapy animal program with a mission of improving human health and well-being through the human-animal bond.

Tuesday, May 2 | 4-4:30pm

> Ask the experts

What’s on your mind? Join in dialogue with a panel of experts across health, productivity, claims management and benefits management, who will address the latest trends, offer predictions, share ideas, and answer your questions.

Wednesday, May 3 | 12:30-1pm

> Targeting programs on another level

Hyper-targeted programs within workers’ compensation, disability and absence are emerging to improve outcomes and enhance the overall experience — for clients, their employees and their customers. Approaches tailored to meet specific needs by diagnosis, disability type or demographic can provide a higher level of care and a clearer, more direct path to recovery. In this session we will discuss how to connect empathy with process, tailor initiatives, navigate systems and more.
